The Basics

WHAT YOU GET: Choose from of a farm stand of seasonal veggies grown by us, and seasonal fruits gleaned from around San Diego. We set up a farm stand with 10-15 items that we do our best to include staples, tasty varieties of your favorites, and variation from week to week. You pick up your veggies and pick what you like, skip what you won’t use.

WHAT YOU CAN’T GET ELSEWHERE: When you pick up you can stay for a chit chat, a walk around the farm, and connect to your food and your farmers. Find greater joy in eating and inspiration to eat a healthier and more diverse diet.

WHERE AND WHEN YOU GET IT: Pick-ups are Sundays at the farm (7275 San Miguel Rd, Bonita CA) from 10-2PM or Clairemont 4-7PM. Choose to come weekly or biweekly

FAQ

What is “CSA”?

CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. The idea is that members have a stake in the farm, and invest upfront so the farmer can purchase all seeds and supplies needed for that year. The members then receive weekly (or bi-weekly veggies) of the seasons harvest, ideally building a connect relationship between the growers and the eaters, limiting waste and opening doors to better food and more sustainable farming.

Do I have to subscribe? Can I just come when I want veggies?

We really prefer you subscribe, so we can depend on you coming and build a connection with you and the farm. When people subscribe, it allows us to focus on growing the best veggies possible as well as builds an understanding of seasonality. If you can’t subscribe (we totally understand), you can purchase the “one-box” on our Grownby store up to 3 days in advance.

What if I can’t make it to the pick up?

Just let us know ahead of time and we will credit your account with a vacation week, that can go towards your next seasons purchase. We allow 2 vacation weeks per season. If you’re out of vacation weeks, you can have a friend pick up for you.

Are you organic?

Organic and beyond! We use organic methods like composting, integrated pest management, and no-till. We only use organic fertilizers and pesticides when we use them, mostly making our own using Korean Natural Farming techniques. We aren’t certified because we’d rather have you at the farm and explain what we do.

What kinds of vegetables should I expect?

We are totally seasonal! You can expect what is in season (for summer it will be cucumbers, tomatoes, zucchini, basil, corn, peppers, beans, etc) and then the seasonal fruit. San Diego has a wide variety of fruits and we try to catch even the shortest seasons from mulberries to oranges to tangerines to figs we got your seasonal fruit!

How does the payment work?

You can choose to pay all at once, or monthly. If you pay all at once we prefer you pay in person with check, cash, zelle, or venmo. If you choose to pay monthly, we prefer you use the GrownBy credit card feature. You can pay at the first pick up, once you’ve paid, you’re set to pick up veggies for the whole season!
